Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
