Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public personalities shared different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive statements that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they revealed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an aide ought to have intervened when the choice to comment on the death was made.
