A woman charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has persistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal heard call records and information recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and continues to be unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate phone message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I feel what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I'm her? What then? Is that not significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The jury was told that by means of emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, sent early photographs to her phone in a attempt to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who collated the information, advised the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, as per the phone records.

On that date, Mr McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."

During that incident Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court learned the co-defendant developed a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in that area in last December.

Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the months preceding the appearance to Rothley, Leicestershire, in that winter.

The court heard communications between the two accused, in that autumn, discussing trying to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from silverware at a dining venue.

"We need to take action," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.
