World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive season.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in earnings.

She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
